Richard is our precious son, who having brought so much into our lives has left so many treasured memories after just 21 years. A larger than life young man in more ways than one, at 6’7” tall he stood out in a crowd, if you missed his height and you hadn’t heard his voice then you will have spotted the group around him laughing. |
The light he brought to every situation will be missed, but remembered by the many fortunate to have known him, however brief the experience. Once met never forgotten, that was Richard.
From the age of 7 Richard was a member of the family of scouts meeting so many friends and experiencing so many different activities which encouraged him to enjoy challenges wherever life took him. The most wonderful experience being when he was selected to represent the city at The World Scout Jamboree in Thailand 2002/03.
As a regular member of The local Scouts Gang Show he learned so much about himself and achieved things he would never have thought possible such as learning to tap dance even if he did have size 14 feet! He made so many laugh and the memories of those performances will remain precious to us all.
At the age of 18 Richard joined the Army as part of The Royal Signals and was based in Dorset and Shropshire with a tour of duty in The Falkland Islands. Leaving the army in November 2007 he started work in IT but his short time in the army had destroyed his spirit such that what might have lay ahead for him we will never know.
Our ‘Sonshine’ will be loved and missed every day of our lives, until the day we are reunited again.
